My Good Three: Trailer

My Good Three is a short, episodic podcast, with shows being released on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Each episode covers one story about someone or something we can appreciate; collectively they’re intended to assist with gratitude - to help balance the negative messages we receive all week from the news and social media.

Most of us have heard about the benefits of gratitude - an effective practice is said to reduce anxiety, improve respiratory-heart health, reduce inflammation, and strengthen brain networks. Keeping a gratitude journal is great, but neuroscience research suggests that one of the most effective ways to practice gratitude is to consistently read or listen to positive stories about people, and, in a sense, connect to your own gratitude through the storytelling.

DID YOU KNOW THAT 90% OF ALL NEWS YOU HEAR IS NEGATIVE? WE ROLL THROUGH OUR WEEK AND WE PASSIVELY ABSORB IT….AND OUR TENDENCY TO PAY ATTENTION TO NEGATIVE NEWS IS EVOLUTIONARY…. OUR BRAINS ARE WIRED FOR THREATS IN ORDER TO ENSURE OUR SURVIVAL…BUT WHAT PRICE IS OUR HAPPINESS AND OPTIMISM PAYING IN THE PROCESS?

 

MY NAME IS CHRIS. I’M A HUSBAND, DAD, AND VETERAN, AND RECENTLY IT BECAME CLEAR TO ME THAT I’M NOT THE POSITIVE, OPTIMISTIC PERSON I USED TO BE.

 

AFTER LEARNING ABOUT SOME RECENT NEUROSCIENCE RESEARCH, I CREATED THIS PROJECT TO SEE IF POSITIVE STORYTELLING…BASICALLY, CONNECTING WITH THE GOOD IN PEOPLE THROUGH STORY…CAN IMPROVE MY THANKFULNESS AND OPTIMISM…AND MAYBE IT CAN HELP A FEW OTHERS…I’M CALLING IT…MY GOOD THREE.

 

JOIN ME EVERY MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND FRIDAY…I’LL SHARE FIVE MINUTE STORIES TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT, FROM THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE.
